Welcome. I am honored that you are here. I’m Jeannette, a yoga teacher & student.
I discovered yoga as a form of exercise, the way most people do in the West; little did I know, it would change my life.
Yoga permitted me to arrive as I am. In class, I was encouraged to move within MY range of motion. There was no talk of pushing myself and “making it burn,” I could do it at my own pace, but there was something more, Being mindful and moving with my breath felt good as it grounded me. It made me feel whole. This newfound awareness nurtured my mind, body, and soul, a true union that empowered me. It drew me to the practice and continues to spark my interest. I am inspired to share the benefits with others as yoga is more than a physical practice, but a way of being, making yoga accessible to all bodies.
My classes are alignment-based & therapeutic with a deep compassion of presence focusing on the power of the breath to heal and move the physical and energetic body. My teaching style is warm and heartfelt, with a playful side.
When I became a parent, I was inspired by the yoga classes I took with my daughter to teach baby & me and children’s yoga. I enjoy sharing yoga with little ones and their families through the art of song, imaginative play, and games. These classes are near and dear to my heart as they offer a bonding experience for parents & children and a means of support & community for new parents. Furthermore, I am passionate about supporting women’s health through prenatal, postnatal, and pelvic floor yoga, offering yoga as a means of physical and emotional ease during transitional phases of life as we focus on the seat of creation & our connection to the earth, the pelvis.
I have dedicated myself to deepening my knowledge of yoga through continuous learning to share my expertise with others. Yoga has transformed me; whether you are a seasoned yogi or just starting your journey, I welcome you to join me for this transformative and empowering experience.
I am grateful to India for birthing the practice of yoga, the wisdom of all my teachers, especially my primary teacher Juliana Mitchell of Living Now Yoga, and finally, I am grateful to all my students as I support them on their spiritual path.
With light & breath,
Jeannette

According to Harvard University:
Studies using MRI scans and other brain imaging technology have shown that people who regularly did yoga had a thicker cerebral cortex (the area of the brain responsible for information processing) and hippocampus (the area of the brain involved in learning and memory) compared with nonpractitioners. These areas of the brain typically shrink as you age, but the older yoga practitioners showed less shrinkage than those who did no yoga. This suggests that yoga may counteract age-related declines in memory and other cognitive skills.” Thereby improving neuroplasticity.
“All exercise can help improve your mood by lowering stress & improving endorphin levels. However, yoga may have some special benefits compared to other forms of exercise. It can affect mood by elevating levels of a brain chemical called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is associated with better mood and decreased anxiety.”
“Meditation also reduces activity in the limbic system—the part of the brain dedicated to emotions. As your emotional reactivity diminishes, you have a more tempered response when faced with stressful situations.”
