Yoga for the
Pelvic Floor
Yoga for the pelvic floor embodies a set of practices and exercises aimed at strengthening, toning, and promoting flexibility in the muscles and tissues of the pelvic region. The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that form a supportive hammock-like structure at the base of the pelvis, and it plays a crucial role in various bodily functions.
During a private session you can expect, some education on the anatomy of the pelvic floor muscles and how they are affected by movement and one’s breath. We’ll also investigate habitual body patterns and breath patterns while moving the body through asana (yoga poses & movement) & breathwork (pranayama).
“I started my yoga journey in 2021 after being diagnosed with vaginismus; while I had been experiencing pelvic pain for many years, finally having a diagnosis and treatment was new territory. I felt nervous, a little scared, and like I had no control over my body. I reached out to a friend for suggestions, and she directed me to Jeannette. She and I connected quickly and soon had a regular weekly yoga session. Jeannette was there as a listening ear, a helpful guide, and an excellent yoga teacher. As our sessions continued, I noticed my body in a way I hadn't before; I became an observer of myself and started moving into new yoga poses that were once difficult! Although downward dog may not be my favorite pose, I can appreciate the growth and progress made. Being diagnosed with vaginismus felt like a life sentence with no treatment; it was so difficult it seemed like things wouldn't be able to change. I am so grateful for Jeannette and her guidance over the last two years and her dedication to practicing and teaching yoga. She is truly amazing at what she does, and I don't think I could have overcome my diagnosis without her. I can not give high enough praise to Jeannette and her ability to help and guide others through the practice of yoga. “
